You will be the Senior Project Manager for an insurance company that was formed in the 1800?s! You will be responsible for the delivery and management of projects using an Agile and iterative approach. The perfect candidate would help bring structure to IT and ensure reliable and scalable Policy and Quoting platforms to meet growing business demand. Your problem solving and organization skills are top notch. You will lead your eager team down a path of the SDLC/PMLC while teaching and enforcing the rules of the Scrum. You are both removing impediments for the team and putting up roadblocks to changing the sprint.
This is a remote position, with visits to our Kingston, NY office as needed.
What you will do:
? Ensure proper project planning occurs, including initial scoping, project inception documentation, and initial estimates for scope, effort, cost, and schedule.
? Create project plans and execute against them, revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
? Manage scope creep and change within an Agile framework.
? Interact with key business stakeholders to inform and communicate. Facilitate transparency within the business.
? Meet and manage key milestones and critical path.
? Day-to-day project management.
? Effectively apply our methodology and enforce project standards. Ensures Scrum/Agile metrics are captured and made visible to team and stakeholders.
? Kick down walls that are blocking your team.
? Help team to choose stories in a sprint, decompose stories into appropriate size tasks, ensure team does not over commit.
? Communicate and work with business leadership about current sprint booking and ability or inability to move items into or out of sprint.
? Manage vendor relationships, output and timelines to meet the needs of Kingstone while maintaining high quality.
? Guide team resources on requirements gathering and documentation as well as communication between business and vendor partners.
? Ensure thorough testing of requirements and provide guidance throughout QA/UAT process.
What you will bring:
? Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (preferred).
? IT Project Management (or comparable equivalent): 5 to 7 years (required).
? Insurance company, MGA, Broker experience.
? Project Management professional (PMP) certification a plus.
? Agile or SCRUM certified.
? Atlassian suite experience.
? Experience with business transformation projects a big plus.
? Demonstrable success at project delivery.
? Delivery of both short-term and long-term projects.
? Must be a team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment.
? Ability to understand technical issues at a high level.
? Proven problem-solving skills.
? Deep understanding of the SDLC/PMLC with the ability to teach the whole organization what success looks like.
? Remote and in-office (Kingston, NY) as needed.
