Information Governance Senior Analyst

About the position The Information Governance Senior Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Information Governance team and will be responsible for coordinating all primary functions of the Information Governance Operations team, including file management (both physical and electronic), file intake, file releases, destruction requests, data access requests, case room management, and records retention, while coordinating all major functions of the department with minimal supervision; developing plans, organizing files and workflow, and assuming responsibility for the completion of major projects. This role will be located in our San Francisco office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence. Responsibilities • Identifying opportunities to enhance the Information Governance program by utilizing a thorough understanding of information management, security, and privacy principles • Consulting firm personnel on the appropriate locations where data should be stored; acting as a resource regarding various information governance questions for staff, lawyers, and other users, and providing instruction and training as needed • Coordinating and performing all aspects of all Information Governance processes including file intakes, releases, destructions, and data access procedures for the office, ensuring compliance with firm policies, and ensuring completion of the relevant process • Coordinating the execution of and ensuring compliance with records retention procedures, ascertaining which files are subject to retention, and maintaining meticulous records regarding file disposition • Organizing boxes, following offsite storage procedures, and preparing files both physically and within the records management system and other databases • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains Requirements • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of information governance, data security, and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures • Display excellent communication skills, both written and verbal • Possess thorough knowledge of the physical and electronic resources of the department and firm and the ability to articulate the role of effective space management in the overall administration of the office • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent; a minimum of five (5) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a degree • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant Information Governance or Records experience, preferably in a law firm’s Information Governance or Records Department • Experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related Information Governance or Records experience Benefits • Healthcare, life and disability insurance • A generous 401k plan • At least 11 paid holidays per year, and a PTO program that accrues 23 days during the first year of employment and grows with tenure • Well-being programs (e.g. mental health services, mindfulness and resiliency, medical resources, well-being events, and more) • Professional development programs • Employee discounts • Affinity groups, networks, and coalitions for lawyers and staff Apply tot his job
