Role Description The Optum Privacy Analyst is responsible for investigating potential Privacy issues primarily within Optum Care – the physician practice market of Optum. The Investigator will: • Assess the initial allegations • Ascertain and interview witnesses • Review all applicable documents, including policy or regulatory/legal requirements • Assess the facts pursuant to HIPAA, state and federal law • Conduct a risk assessment of the matter/determine merit • Log and track written summaries at the conclusion of the investigation into Optum’s Privacy Incident Management database This individual will often work with Legal and business leadership throughout the course of investigations and will also interact with other UHG Enterprise Privacy partners, as well as periodically work with Human Capital and Enterprise Information Security. You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: • Provide overall privacy program support for a region of physician practices that meets internal and external standards for effective HIPAA requirements • Develop/maintain product, regulatory, and operational knowledge for assigned businesses with a focus on regulatory requirements for privacy • Oversee remediation and corrective action plans resulting from audits, investigations, privacy reviews, and self-identified issues • Develop, manage and implement a privacy plan for specific provider risks (Authorizations, mobile devices, Individual rights, and Notice of Privacy Practices) • Develop and deliver privacy training and awareness program, including administration of new hire and annual training modules and delivery of privacy awareness messages (posters, emails, newsletters, etc.) • Oversee and review operational privacy policy and procedure development as needed and draft policies, checklists, and other guidance for our businesses • Provide guidance to the business in writing and verbally to ensure compliance with privacy regulations You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
